This is a new safety compliance act that all open pools/spas must comply with by December 19, 2008. If the pools/spas in question is shut down for the season then it must be in compliance the day it opens for the summer season.

To be in compliance:

• Install drain covers that are ANSI/ASME A112.19.8-2007 approved, on ALL drain/grate.
• Install an automatic shut-off system, gravity drainage system, Safety Vacuum Release System(SVRS), suction-limiting vent system or disable the drain, if the pool operates off of a SINGLE main drain.
• Make sure that all dual or multiple main drains are at least 3 feet apart.
